Seriously, Snow?

Three years ago was our first fall in this house and we raked enough leaves in our backyard to fill nearly 40 garbage bags! Last year we got smart and mulched them with the mower, so we only filled 10 or 12 bags. A huge improvement! This year we thought we'd be all cool and show everyone how many leaves we actually have. We had this great plan of taking pictures of the leaves during stages as they covered the ground out back. Great plan, right?

Stage 1: We took this awesome picture after we'd filled a couple bags with leaves. This many had fallen again by the time we cleaned everything up.

Stage 2: This was taken a few days later when a little more than half the leaves had fallen off our trees. Lookin' good!

Stage 3: This is the picture we took after all of the leaves had fallen. Note, there is something in this picture that does NOT belong!

Stage 4: To finish things off we took this picture, because it seemed like somebody was rubbing it in. Seriously, are we are total geniuses or what?!

So, with that said, does anybody want to come help us rake up 40 bags' worth of soggy leaves when the snow melts? It'll be SUPER fun . . .

We sent ours over to our Ward Garden. You might see if anyone wants them for mulch in their garden and rather than rake them into bags you could rake them onto a tarp and then carry them somewhere that might want them. I know that sometimes the city will come and get them during a week clean-up time they sometimes have scheduled and then you could just leave them out by your gutter. Just an idea! I did like your idea about taking pictures for proof. Although I do agree with your friend Kelli that you should invite the youth in your ward to help you out. We are doing that for our youth activity in our ward next Saturday.

That is REALLY crappy. Dan and I have been talking about planting more trees in our yard next year but I think we'll reconsider!

My kids would have loved to play in those leaves! I don't really like the mess it has left though. Have fun!

Yeah, no. You're on your own there.

Oh how I miss the fall season there...that even means the raking. I was so looking forward to jumping into a big pile with Corban this year. Oh, and the snow...I hope it snows while we are there. I want a family picture in it!

ohhhhh, fun for you! jer and i had this happen to us in our first appartment that had it's own backyard. the problem was that NO ONE previous to us living there had worried about the leaves either and so when we finally got to them there were about 5 years of fermenting gross leaves to rake up. good luck to you...ehhhh.
