I've been dreading the day that my publicist would call me and say that it was time to do a TV appearance for one of my books. Well, the day finally came earlier this week—Monday to be exact. Courtney, my publicist, called to say that KSL Channel 5 wanted me to come do a demonstration of a cake from Easy Cut-Up Cakes for Kids for their morning show, Studio 5. I think the moment those words came out of her mouth, my blood pressure shot through the roof—and probably stayed up there until after the show. But, I did it! After several days of worrying and getting prepared (making the finished cake, organizing all the parts to demonstrate, trying to figure out what to say and not sound stupid, etc.), it was finally Thursday morning. I woke up at 6 a.m. feeling like I was going to throw up and wondering why in the world I ever said yes to this! But, I did it. I calmly drove to SLC, parked in the wrong parking lot and then couldn't find the studio. After a few minutes of frantic searching, I made it. The show was shot live not long after I arrived and it was a very long and horrifying 6 minutes. But at the same time, I was definitely happy I did it (and also happy to have it over with when we were done). I showed my interviewer, Brook, how to make the Creepy Crawly Spider Cake for Halloween, and it seemed to be a hit. My blood pressure I think is back to normal and I'm feeling less stressed. But of course, my biggest worry now is that the other local stations will ask me to be on their shows!
P.S. I added a picture of the spider cake, but it's kind of dark. On the show the spider's purple "highlights" were much brighter, but I didn't take a picture of that one. This is the shot from my book. It's still pretty cute though, right?

Horrified and Happy

We're finally caught up!
We decided it would be fun to try the blogging thing, so hopefully we've done it right! We've posted some pictures from vacations and whatever else we've been doing over the last several months and now we're finally caught up to the present, so the blog is finally ready for all of you to see. Of course our favorite pictures and posting is of our sweet babies, Brock and Mia! Aren't they cute in this picture with Todd's hand? Most of you know that Todd doesn't have huge hands, so this just kind of gives you an idea of how tiny our little angels really were. We also did a few fun things this summer while I was off work recovering from delivering the twins. My favorite fun thing was when we went to Disneyland, the happiest place on earth! It's one of my favorite places to go and neither of us had been to California Adventure, so it was really fun because we got to go on so many new rides. More recently we've been doing a remodel on our bathroom and will have pictures of the "new and improved" space soon!
